W7 Mini Midnight Palette

Halloween is one of my favourite times of year. The pumpkins are carved, people are thinking about fancy dress and best of all, its on a Saturday night this year!

The W7 Mini Midnight Palette (link) came in a box set, which also included a cheek palette and the In The Buff Palette. I actually got the box set from The Original Factory Shop (link) which was about £12.00. I will do a review on the cheek palette also, but I thought I would do them all separately.

I used this eyeshadow palette in my Halloween Video (link) and actually, for this time of year, this palette is perfect!

Purples are quite hard to wear at the best of times. So the fact that this is inexpensive, its not going to break the bank if you only wear it a couple of times of the year.

The Palette is in a tin box, so very secure and it also comes with 6 different shades. As you can see from the picture, it has 1 completely matte, 1 satin finish and 4 shimmery shades. Some of the shimmery shades have very large glittery, glittter particles mixed in. So this is not going to be for everyone. However like I said, great for inexpensive dressing up makeup. Also if your very creative, this palette can work for a lot of different makeup looks.

The colours are actually quite pigmented, but I do feel that you have a lot of fall out. So I recommend doing your eyeshadows first and the your base makeup afterwards.
They blend really nicely and last well on the eye, but only with an eye primer first. Without, you do find they can be a little chalky.

Im in love with the second shade, which is the wine colour. Such a pretty shade for an autumn smoky eye. Teamed up with some lashes and lashings of eyeliner, you would be good to go!

Have you tried W7 products before? If so, what do you think of them?

My Autumn Makeup Daytime Routine

What a gorgeous few days its been. The sun has been shining, but the freshness of Autumn has definitely been blessing us with all its glory!

This has been my go-to day time look for work, most days. It seems like a lot of products, but I can assure you, its super quick and easy. It makes me feel polished, without the time and effort and lasts all day.

I start of by priming my face, using the smashbox primers together. I just feel they give a bit of everything that the skin needs and also lasts well throughout the day. I did a separate post (link) on these, so go check it out.

The Eyes

Whilst that is settling on the skin, I then take the Revlon eyeshadow palette and use the bone colour all over the lid, then use the cool toned brown underneath that bone shade, and take that all over the mobile lid, up to the crease. With the other lighter brown, right of the bone shade, I use that on a fluffy brush and blend out the harsh line in the socket. Then I take a small pencil brush and use the darkest shade on the outer V and blend. You don't have to be precise. Just go with it and rock the undone, eye look! Next I take the Avon black liner and just smudge that on the upper lash line. Curl your lashes and then put on 2 coats of mascara top and bottom.

The Skin

MAC Studio Fix has 2 pumps on the back of my hand and with a damp beauty blender, I distribute that all over the face. Conceal any dark circles with your fave concealer and then to warm up the face, W7 Cream Bronzer is put in the hollows of the cheek bone and around the temple, set in place with the Rimmel Loose Transparent Powder. For an autumnal cheek, I put a berry tone on the apples, pulling the colour back. A spritz of the Avon Makeup Setting Spray and done!

The Brows

A clear brow gel is used to groom the brow and with the Collection Brow Pencil in Blonde, is used to fill in any sparse areas and brushed through.

The Lips

I used a Estee Lauder Lip Pencil in a berry tone and used it really lightly, all over, to get that bitten look. Then I used the Loreal Cream Gloss over the top to add that shine, without looking over slippy.

Perfect for day time. Perfect for work. Perfect for Autumn

SmashBox Primers

I am always trying to find the perfect primer. In fact, I'm a little obsessed with face primers. Because of my very combination skin, I kind of need a primer for all skin types, all rolled into one. But, I think that's the impossible find.

When I came across this little trio, I thought it was quite a good buy. You can try all 3 without breaking the bank. Not only that, if there is one you partially like, you can then buy the full size version. Not only that, these little compact sizes are great for my kit.

Smashbox Primer(link)s have been a staple in the blogger-sphere and for many MUA's for a long time and have also won many awards.

The Luminizing Oil Free Photo Finish(link) is possibly my fave out of the 3. Its oil free, which is a huge bonus and it gives just the right amount of luminosity, without being BAM, look at me and my highlighted face! A small amount goes a long way. I use this before my foundation, also you could mix it in with your foundation, if you wanted more of a glossy look. Again, my favourite out of three, as it gives you a really pretty look to the skin.

Next is the Photo Finish Foundation Primer (link), which is still very good, but my least favourite of the 3. Its clear gel/silicone texture has quite a slippy feel to it, but lets your matte foundation glide over the skin a lot easier. Great for the oil control, but I feel that there is nothing different about this primer. For £25.50 its not cheap. I do feel you could get a highstreet/drugstore equivalent at quarter of the price.

Last and definitely not least, its the blue toned Photo Finish Hydrating Oil Free (link) Again another one of my favourites for when I am having one of those dehydrated days. But still oil free, so I know my makeup is not going to move throughout the day. This is probably the closest to the "best primer ever" if it had the luminosity particles in it. But then that doesn't mean, I can mix the brown and blue one together! Which in my opinion, is the way that I personally wear it most. However, if you don't want the luminosity side to it, then by itself is just as great. This is also great for more maturer skins.

Have you tried any of these primers, if so which one?

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Being a makeup artist, you would have thought that I have already tried and tested this foundation. Its been iconic for years and its a foundation that is always raved about.

Estee Lauder has been one of my favourite brands ever since I got into makeup. Probably because my mum loved it and I guess I followed suit.

The UK's NO. 1 Foundation.

15-hour staying power. Flawless all day. This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity.

Won't change colour, smudge or come off on clothes. Feels lightweight and comfortable.

Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

Medium, buildable; SPF 10

I have had this foundation for about 6 weeks and I have to say that I have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes you just want a foundation to plonk on your face and run out the door. However, the Double Wear I feel, needs a lot of manipulating on the skin, before you can "run out the door".
I have tried this foundation with fingers, a flat brush, buffing/ name it, I have tried it. The only way I feel that it works, is with a damp beauty blender. Anything else, it just sits on top of the skin and feels heavy. When used with a beauty sponge, it feels like its a part of you and wearable. Its liquid consistency gives you false pretences that you need a good dollop to start. Actually, you only need a small amount. A pump size is good enough for the face......oh wait, that's right, for £30.00 it doesn't come with a pump. Come on needs a pump!

Where was I...............??
Its great that you only need a small amount, as of course the whole bottle will last longer. But, when it says buildable, I would have to disagree. It cakes, it cracks and sits in the pores if you use too much, Yes it lasts well on the skin if you use a small amount, but use a lot, your in all sorts of trouble!

Its a matte finish, but I still have to use a powder on top. For those with less oil, I am certain you can go without powder, as it does dry well. Sometimes though, it can look a bit too powdery. So I do have to finish off with a makeup spray on top, just to settle the powder and so it doesn't go cakey.

I like this foundation, its not my first love. It definitely lasts well and great for a night out. If you have the time to work with it and want it to look "perfect" then great! If your someone who wants an everyday foundation that works quickly with your routine and your skin, then I can't say this is for you. Double Wear really needs time and effort to make you and the product look flawless.

Have you tried it and if so, what are your thoughts?

Winter Handbag and Shoes

Summer is definitely in the past and Autumn is fast approaching *sad face!*
But, I have to say that Autumn is one of my favourite seasons. Its great for layering up lots of clothing, bronzed eyes and vampy lips are on the horizon and there are many great pieces that are trending in the shops right now.

I picked up these bargains from Primark and I am so excited to start pairing them up with my woolly jumpers and my skinny jeans. However, these are timeless pieces and can go with a lot of different outfits.

The little black booties (link) are suede material and are soooooo comfortable and at a measly £22, I know that these are gonna get a heck of a lot of wear out of them. These can be great for day time wear or even be teamed up with your favourite black skinny's, a blouse/shirt with a scarf and leather jacket. Not forgetting the handbag (link)

My birthday was in September, so my Mum and Dad kindly got it for me, with a few other bits and bobs, and I have to say, I love it!
For me its just the right size and also has just enough gold detailing. I love the fact that it also has the faux snake skin effect, without looking tacky. Just a great combo that is going to get used most days in Autumn/Winter.

Do you have any timeless pieces for Autumn/Winter?

Brow Drama That's Giving Me Mixed Emotions

Brow products have hit us with a vengeance, since Cara Delevingne has marched onto the runway, with her big, gorgeous set of brows!

I have said it and will always said it. I love a good brow!

I have had this Maybelline Brow Drama £4.99 for a long time and there are days that I love it and other days I feel a bit 'MEH' about it. I just can't quite make up my mind?!?!?!

Anyhow's, I thought I would review it anyway and give you my mixed emotions!

As you can see it's a compact little tube, nothing fancy. But does the job and to me, what more do you need?

It comes in 3 shades and I have the colour dark brown.

The brush is a little ball, which for me, this is not the best shape for my eyebrows. I personally like the mascara wand shape. So on the days I want to have the perfect brows, I don't use this brush. I use one of my disposable mascara wands and that is soooo much better! Much more control and helps me provide the perfect shape.

As for the actual product, its not too bad. I prefer it when I fill in my brows first, then use this on top to give me a slight extra bit of colour and to lock the brow hairs in shape. But I do find if I use this by itself, the colour is just not enough. Even on those 'I wanna wear very little makeup today days' But, I think that comes down to the applicator. It never seems to pick up much product and I am always going back for more.

Its an okay brow mascara, but I am not blown away by it. I think if they changed the wand, it could be different. But, when this little guy runs out, I won't be rushing out to buy a new one.

What are your thoughts and can you recommend any other brands?

Big Love

As you know, I do a little flitter from blogging from time to time! But most of the time, its just because work gets too much and blogging goes on the back burner. However, this time I do have a few more valid reasons. 2 in fact! But I'll only give you the low down on one reason today! The next can be in my next post, so look out for that soon.

As some of you may, or may not know, I had a salon at home. There I preformed some beauty treatments like waxing, pedicures and manicures. But its was for mainly treatments like makeup and nails.

Having the salon at home was great for me. We had the space, my partner would be out in the day, so that clients felt comfortable that men weren't around and not only that, it kept all the costs down than having a shop. I did this for 2 years and it served me well.

But, mid November 2014 a shop came up for rent. I always had my eye on it, as it was the perfect location and the perfect size. So, I made a few enquiries and within 24 hours the deal had been done! I was a shop owner!

I didn't have time to think about the details. But in a way, I think that's sometimes, the best way. I didn't have time to talk myself out of it, or if I was doing the right thing etc, etc, etc. But, I had a shop and I had to get on with it!

So as the days passed, I still had to work from my salon at home, the Christmas season was fast approaching, and the shop was empty and needed a referb. It was tough, because all I could think about was "I need to be open before Christmas!"

I have to admit, if it wasn't for the support from Tom and my family, I don't think it would have been possible. But we all got to work and the shop finally opened on the 08.12.14

It was such a success and everybody and anybody who participated in the build up, I am truly grateful for.

The shop was crazy before Christmas and it was soooo busy! I don't think I anticipated of how busy it actually was gonna be! It was mental, but so much fun and of course, its still so much fun.

So, that's why I haven't been on here. But now I have more of a routine , I am hoping to be on here a lot more with more makeup, beauty, lifestyle and fashion blogs.

Here are a few pictures of the shop and if there are any questions you want to ask, just leave them in the comments below.
