Shiny Disco Nails! xxx

Hello My Shiny Happy People!

Recently I went out to buy a new nail polish and I fell in love with the Barry M Nail Paint in the colour 338 Silver Multi Glitter.

I actually saw a person wearing it and literally pounced on her and asked her where she had got it from! You can purchase any Barry M Make-up products off line www.barrym.com or you can simply go into Boots or Superdrug and buy them there. This cost me £2.99 for a 10ml bottle, which is a total bargain in my eyes!

The first thing that I noticed when applying it to my nail, is the smell. It has a very strong glue odour. However, when it dries, the smell disappears!

To get this effect I used 3 coats on the nail, and as you can see it has a very high shine. This is without a top, clear coat.

I love this nail polish. The smell is a little mental, but that all seems to redeem itself because of the final finish and above all, Barry M doesn't test on animals. So this is a huge plus for me!

Lots of Love and keep sparkling!

Absolutely Flawless! xxx

Hello, Hello, Hello!!

Flawless skin to any make-up look, makes everything come together and makes everything else look perfect.

No7 from Boots have brought out a new foundation range called the match made service and I am sooooooo glad that I have finally tried it out. It is absolutely a-ma-zing and they do foundations for ALL skin types and for ALL colours. It's truly brilliant and how they match up your foundation colour is even better!

They have come out with seven different types of foundation, ranging from oily skin, dry skin, right the way to the more maturer skin.

Restore and Renew
Lift and Luminate
Protect and Perfect
Instant Radiance
Beautifully Matte
Stay Perfect
Essentially Natural

I'm gonna talk about Beautifully Matte as it's aimed towards my skin type which is very oily and I do suffer from marks, blemishes and a few scars.

It's a very thick foundation and has a dry finish when on the face. One pump goes a long way and covers over my whole face. I put it on with my fingers, because being such a thick foundation it needs to be warmed up. Doing this will help the foundation move over your skin and blending will also be a lot easier.

I have the colour Deeply Ivory and the colour is perfect. The way that they match your colour foundation to your actual skin tone, is by the new device that they have. It takes a photo of your skins pigmentation and suggests a colour for you.

They have worked on this, with beauty director Lisa Eldridge, for three years. A lot of work, but well worth it!

As you can see from the picture above, this particular foundation comes in a pump form tube, so wastage should be minimal by the time you finish it.
All of the foundation contains an SPF of 15, which is great to protect you from any harmful rays and they are also Hypo-Allergenic. This means they are good for anyone who has sensitive skin. As you all probably know I suffer from Eczema and Psoriasis and this is fine for my face and skin type and this sits on the face really well.

I love this foundation and it's now going to be my staple product that will be in my make-up bag. My face looks flawless, I love the texture and I love how it covers my redness, spots and scars.

Go into any Boots and they will go through your skin type and take a photo of your skin colour to match your perfect tone. For a 30ml this will cost you £12.50 and if you time it right like I did, No7 usually do 2 products for the price of 3 and they even sometimes give out vouchers with money off, when you spend so much at the counter. Brilliant!

Give it a try and I promise those who have oily skin, you will love it as it will last on your skin for upto 12 hours!

Love to you all

Washing Hair and Losing Weight! xxx

Hey There!

It has been a while, however life is slowing down the Make-Up House!

Your probably thinking why on earth I have a title like 'washing hair and losing weight?' Well, sorry to disappoint, as washing hair does not help you loose weight! It's just what I want to share with you today!

I want to talk about Kerastase by Loreal. It's not new on the market but my experience with it is immense! You can either buy it online, or in salons only. This is not your everyday shampoo or conditioner!
As you can see from my first blog, that I have started to go to a new hair salon called Sense. I still go there as it's fab! But I have been going a lot a lot blonder. So therefore, I don't want to cause a lot of damage to my hair. That's when I purchased some of the Kerastase range.

In the picture above, is the shampoo for reinforcing and resurfacing weakened and damaged hair. This is in the number 1 and 2. All the numbers basically mean the level and strength of shampoo. 1 and 2 mean that if you have surface protection deterioration, loss of shine, rough to touch, cuticle abrasion, damaged hair, loss of softness and suppleness, then this is the shampoo for you. For 250ml it cost around £15.99

A lot of money you say?! Well maybe? But this is coming from the gal who used to buy the cheapest stuff that was on offer in her local supermarket! Not all is bad from the shelves. But if you have bleached or coloured hair like myself, then the stuff on the shelves in your local drug store will just not do!!

In the visual above, this is the conditioner that goes with it. Reinforcing and resurfacing treatment for damaged lengths and ends. Again it cost around £15.99, for 200ml. But what an incredible conditioner! I love them both and it has really helped my hair with the condition. Without getting too technical, as I am no hairdresser, this stuff puts all the proteins back into your hair, wish I guess is good!

Once I have washed and conditioned my hair, I towel dry it and then put in the Kerastase Elixir Ultime.

They call this liquid Gold! And I totally agree! It comes in a 125ml bottle and it cost around £25.00. Again, sounds a lot, but it's worth every single penny. Not only that you only need a small amount depending on your length and thickness of hair, so it should last a very long time!
What this does, it basically puts back the oils back into your hair that you loose, as this contains 4 essential oils. It smells scrummy and makes my hair shiny and really healthy looking!

Here are the results! Try it yourself and see, as I know the results will be amazing for you too!

Ok, lets go to the loosing weight part! I have just joined slimming world in Wells and I have an amazing leader.

Her name is Claire West. She is very friendly, down to earth and even emails you and asks how well you are coping. This is literally my first day and I'm really excited and can't wait for results! I'm doing the Extra Easy Plan and the things you can eat are unreal! So I'm going to share with you every week, my high's, my low's and my weightloss success! So keep in touch for all the weight loss drama!

I hope you are all well. Please Look at my new Jewellery website on http://birdyjewellery.bigcartel.com/
and have a browse!

MUA-Make-Up Acadamy

Heeeelllooooooooo!

I have to tell you about some eyeshadows. They are not new, but they do have some new colours in, which are absolutely fantastic and the pigment is out of this world!

They are by MUA-Make-Up Acadamy and you can purchase these in Superdrug. They do many colours and they also do other products. But, the price is ridiculous! For 2grams of eyeshadow, you only pay £1.00 per pot. Yes, you did read correct........ONE WHOLE POUND!!

For the quality of these eyeshadows, the price is mental and they will last you for quite a long time too!

As I said earlier, they come in many colours. But the colours that stood out to me where the ones below.

 From left to right:

The first colour is new and it's Shade 24-Pearl, the middle one is Shade 6-Pearl and the last colour is Shade 11-Pearl.

Shade 24 Pearl is like a pinky copper/bronze colour. Shade 6 Pearl is a very bright cool green and Shade 11 Pearl is a deep bronze/brown. They are all very stunning!

Below I have swatched them on my hand.

When I swatched these, I literally ran my finger through the pigments once and this is the result. Amazing ay?!! Simply beautiful!

You should try them if you haven't, and if you have tried them.....then buy some more!!

Plus they don't test on animals.....yay!! I have made a promise to my friend and to myself that I will find out if products are used on animals. If they are, I will not buy them. If not, I will buy them and wear them with pride!!

Lots of Love

I'm Back! August Faves!!

Howdy Ho Peeps!!

I'm real sorry that I have left you to defend for yourselves! I have been mega busy and in between celebrated my 30th birthday.......YES, the BIG 30!
There was a part of me that was slightly depressed, turning 30. However, after looking back through the years, I realised that I have achieved quite a lot! And 30 is not mega old, is it?!!

So I missed most of August on here, but that didn't stop me from purchasing a few things! So I will let you know what I bought and what I used and liked throughout August.

Kicking off with a hair product, I have been using HASK Argan Oil Healing Shine Treatment.
It comes in a tiny 18ml bottle and I got this from Primark and it only cost me £2.50 a bottle. Your probably thinking that 18ml is not that big of a bottle, and your right it's not! Although, you only need a tiny bit of this stuff as it's a pure oil and too much will only make your hair looking like a grease ball! I use a 2p size amount for my hair, but my hair is very long and pass my bra strap when down. So if shorter use less.
It contains Keratin Amino Acids, Jojoba and a whole load of other stuff, and I have even compared it to many other oils that are similar. And to be honest the ingredients are practically the same to the more expensive ones.
I use this mainly on damp hair, but you can use it on dry too. I massage it from root to tip and then style as normal. It smells incredible and makes my hair shiny and very healthy looking too. I give this a huge thumbs up and have already purchased another bottle!

Another fantastic item/s that I got were the Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner.

They come in 4 colours, Black, Brown, Teal and Gold. I only purchased the teal and gold as I have the other colours in other eyeliners. They cost £4.99 each and for that price they are a real bargain! They are really pigmented and last for hours. The teal dries very matt, but the gold has a slight shimmer to it.

To make the colour really pop, you could also add a black eyeliner first, then one of these colours over the top or beside it.

They also come with a little brush, which for me I find hard work. Only because I feel that I need a longer handle to have control. But maybe for a beginner, these would be great. They also include instructions on the back of the box. I love these little pots and I think they are a great price too, for such good quality gel liner. You can buy these either in Superdrug or boots or online and I really think you should go out and buy them and give them a whirl!!

Let me know what you think if you buy any of these products, or if you simply need a hand with any tips or question then please contact me or leave a comment! Also please like my Facebook Page and you will be entered in a free prize draw to win £50.00 worth of make-up.

I will be in contact more often guys and I promise I won't leave it so long till the next blog!

Love and Hugs

M.A.C Haul! xxx

So I went to the M.A.C store in Bath a few weeks ago and needed to pick up one or 2 things......

£120.00 later and I'm like a child with butterflies in my stomach, waiting to get home to rip open the bag and play with my new things!

I do a lot of bridal make-up and always need good quality products. I have a lot of confidence in M.A.C and their staying power on the face, which is great for brides and bridesmaids, because then they have confidence all day knowing that they don't have to check their face every five minutes for make-up top up's!

For bridal make-up, it's always good to have a good base and you want to take most of the oil away on the skin. The more oil, the more the make-up is going to slip. I always cleanse the face then put a primer on the skin. A primer basically preps the face and takes away any oil, smooths out skin and helps foundation or powder lasts a lot longer. I have been trying out the M.A.C prep and prime.
The packaging is typical M.A.C! But then again I like their packaging as it's sleek and simple and it's well known. I use about 2 pumps of the primer and that should cover the face and neck area and you can either put this on with your fingers or with a foundation brush.
It's a white primer (as above!) and it's a good consistency, it also has little flecks of shimmer. I have read or heard that a lot of people don't like this. However, I do! To me it gives the face a healthy glow and some luminosity. When you put your foundation over the top you can't see the flecks of shimmer, but what I did find is that you really have to work in the foundation into your skin. That's clearly the primer doing it's job and letting the foundation have staying power! For 30ml it cost £19.50 and the bottle should last a while, depending on how many times you make-up your face or others. I really like this product and I will be buying it again for me and my customers. So try it if you want your make-up to last all day at work, when you go out on the town or if you are going to be a bride or bridesmaid. I promise you it will work and last!

Another product I use for brides is waterproof mascara. As you can imagine, when the bride has finally got dressed and then her dad is waiting at the bottom of the stairs in his suit to give her away, that's when the tears seem to fall......and hopefully not the mascara! I use ZOOM Waterfast Lash.
This mascara is brilliant and does NOT move! The wand is a nice size for upper and lower lashes and the product is a good consistency. It does make the lashes thicker and appear to be longer. But, I do feel that I have to separate the lashes with an eyelash comb, as they do clump together a little. Also, I feel that this product can dry out after a couple of months, but that maybe me using it quite a lot because I have clients. If I were to use it on myself only, maybe it will last longer. But for my brides this mascara is GREAT! Just be warned when taking it off, get your favourite eye make-up remover on cotton pads a place on the eye area and leave for a few minutes. That way it will have time to work and melt into the mascara and then wipe away! For an 8gm tube this will cost you £14.00 and you can buy it in the colours black or brown.

This next product is the bomb! M.A.C Cremesheen in the colour Creme Cup.
The colour is absolutely stunning and the texture is really silky smooth. It does have a lovely sheen to it and lasts pretty well.
I would use this with a lip liner due to the consistency, only because with a lip liner all over the lip it will last longer and it won't bleed into the skin. Beautiful on really fair skin or on tanned skin. I use this product on a lot of brides as it's a good nude lipstick. So if you have darker eye make-up, this pink will complement it really well. This will cost £14.00

I hope you like my M.A.C haul and if you try them out, let me know what you think!

July Favourites! xxx

I'm gonna cut to the chase and go straight into July Faves as there are quite a few to get through!

As you know I am like an oil slick on my face, so oil free products usually work for me! I am loving visibly clear, pink grapefruit oil- free moisturiser by Neutrogena. To be honest with you, I like most of the Neutrogena rage as it works for me and it's very reasonable too!
It smells absolutely gorgeous.....(pink grapefruit funnily enough!) and the consistency is quite thick when you squeeze it from the tube.
It feels fab when on your skin as it's not thick and heavy and it really doesn't clog your pores. You only need a small amount as a little goes a long way and this is a great product if you need a base under your foundation. It absorbs really quickly and leaves no residue, hydrates well and is soooooo refreshing! I put it on morning and night after I cleanse and tone. This cost around £4.60 for 50ml.

Hot pinks are really fashionable at the moment and look great with a tan and in the sunshine! I am a big fan of I.B.D gel nail products as they last for a long time on the nail and colour doesn't fade. They do a shade called All Heart which has shiny flecks of colour in it.
It wears and goes on like an ordinary nail polish. But it wears like a gel nail once cured under a UV light. It can last for up to 2 weeks without any chips and can promote natural nail growth. With a glossy top coat this is uber shiny and is such a beautiful colour! I do these in my salon for £20.00 a set.

Temporary lip tattoos have become huge at the moment and I have seen them in quite a few stores. I found some in the Factory Shop for only a pound, so thought I would give them a go!
They are really easy and simple to use. I would say that the hardest part is trying to cut them down to your own natural size lip and shape. For a one pound I got 3 different designs. On the back are the instructions, which are easy to follow and basically you cut them down using the guides (not cutting the cupids bow or the bottom of lip) peel off clear protector and stick to own lips design down. Once in place wet a cotton pad and dab over design. You will know when it's ready as the white backing does slide away. They dry on lips almost instantly and just feel slightly tacky. Although, they are great and a lot of fun I have really tiny lips and I did find that the full effect didn't work on me and that I was eating the design away rather quickly! However, if your a lucky bean and full luscious lips, then you shall definitely give these a go!
As you can see I thought I would have some fun and support our nation by having the union jack on for the open ceremony of the Olympics!

Last but not least! I am really in to contouring my face as it makes me look slimmer and more defined. I got given this a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE this product! It's from AVON and it's from there true colour range and the colour is earthen rose.
It's a blusher that is beige/fawn in colour and has peachy undertone to it..... that usually comes with a small brush! However, I did throw my brush away because when applying blusher or anything to my cheeks, I love to use a big, tapered blending brush! The colour is perfect if you are a little on the paler side like myself! I use this just under my cheek bone to give me more of a sculpted look and because it's matte, it's even more perfect for more of a natural look. Remember a little goes a long way and you don't want to add loads. If too much too soon, you can't take away. Just keep adding little by little and blending for the look you are trying to create, without any harsh lines. For 6 grams of pressed powder it cost around £6.00.

I hope you like my July Favourites and if you haven't got any of these products then you should try them and let me know what you think! Please subscribe for free and that way you get any new updates from myself! Alternatively go to my facebook page and like http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jay-Chapman-Make-Up-Artist/122769664429757

The House of Soap xxx

As some of you may know, I suffer with eczema on my eyelids and around my eyes and psoriasis on the back of my hair line. I have had it for years and have tried many, if not hundreds of lotions and potions! Yes some work for a small amount of time. But there is always a slight worry in the back of my mind, with the ingredients. What am I putting on my skin?

There are always rumours that the medication, lotions and cream's etc that doctors prescribe can thin the skin. Which is not so great for me because the eye area is so thin anyway. I know that skin rejuvenate's quite quickly when your younger. However, I'm no spring chicken anymore and need to look after my assets, if not, then my skin at least!!

One day about 3 months ago I was walking up Wells highsteet, Somerset and came across a market stall and a massive sign....DO YOU SUFFER FROM ECZEMA? I nudged my boyfriend and asked if we could take a look. They had a whole stall of things from bath bombs, to bars of soap to oils. The guy on the stall (Adrian Mackey) was lovely and really easy to talk too and I explained my situation.

Adrian pointed me in the right direction and said to me what I needed, which was the honey and oatmeal bar of soap (as above) and the 100% Shea Butter (below)
Sorry about my label, but this little beaut comes everywhere with me!

The soap is made from all natural ingredients and has oatmeal in it, which acts as a gentle exfoliator. It doesn't bubble up as much as other soaps. But I can tell you that the smell is divine and its also very soothing. I have even used this on my face and I find that it's not drying to the skin at all. It lasts a long time and @ £3.75 I think that is pretty reasonable for all natural products. The only thing that lets me down is that it's made from Palm Oil. Palm Oil is fine to use and obviously great on the skin, but it's not great for the environment. I won't go into details, but for me I won't be using this again as I try and care for the environment here and there! Maybe house of soap, you could put something back into the palm tree environment or use another natural product? Just a thought and if so I will definitely buy this product again!

The 100% Shea Butter on the other hand is great and I will be buying over and over again! It's literally like a butter and it is white in colour and for £7.50  this product will last you for ever. I put it on my dry skin every night and YES ladies and gents, my eczema is pretty much gone from my eyelids, without using those pesky chemicals on my face! It may not work for you, but at least give it a try as I'm sure it will do something. If not, it will give you amazing soft skin at least!

Adrian is at Wells market every Wednesday and you have to see him! He is amaze balls! If not you can buy on line at www.houseofsoap.co.uk

Give it a try!

Lauren Luke Brushes! xxx

Hi everyone!

Yes I have another new blog and hopefully the last! I will pimp it up at a later date, but for now I wanna talk about the Lauren Luke Brush set that I received a couple of weeks ago. I have put them to the test and have done a few bridal make-ups with them, so that you get a full review on what they are actually like!

The First thing I noticed when I received them was how personalised the packaging was. Ok, so they were only in a brown Jiffy bag! But obviously inside were the brushes and a personal typed up note from Lauren! I thought it was a nice touch (even though, she presses print on her computer!) and knowing how busy she must be, it seems that she still takes the time out to know her customers and fans! She even messaged me on Facebook.....oh yeah!

For those who don't know who Lauren Luke is (if you don't....are you in the dark ages?!) She is a youtube sensation under the name Panacea81. She blogs and reviews anything from make-up, tutorials, her life and you can even email her your problems and she will try and help! The reason I love her? I love her because she is your girl next door, who had quite a sad past. But she got off her ass and sorted it and tried to make a go of things! Now look at her, she has youtube hits over 127,000,000 and she has over 442,000 subscribers, with now, her own make-up brush line! A.MA.ZING!!!

So back to the brushes! There are 8 to choose from and the prices range from £3.25-£6.50. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little dubious and wondered why they are so cheap. But I went ahead an bought the whole lot, plus you get the pencil brush for free. The whole set cost me £33.75 and then a couple of quid on top for the postage and packaging.
I can't express enough LOVE for these brushes! They are absolutely fan-dabi-dosy! And for the price...............this girl has done well to produce such wonderful brushes!

From Left - Right. Large Powder Brush, Foundation Brush, Flat Contour Brush, Tapered Blending Brush, Pencil Brush, Blending Eyeshadow Brush, Flat Brush, and Angled Brush

LARGE POWDER BRUSH
This is made from goat hair and it's really good quality. No hairs seem to be left on your face after you have gone mad with the bronzer! This is great for powdering the whole face, blusher and bronzer. Or you could you it to blend out any harsh lines on the face with this brush. This is the most expensive of the brushes at only £6.50

FOUNDATION BRUSH
This is my favourite from the whole set. Personally I haven't had a foundation brush quite as good as this one. Others, and I mean very expensive brands, have left hairs on my face, don't blend as well or leave harsh lines. This is a great brush to own and if you have to only choose one, then choose this one! This brush is really great for buffing foundation into the skin and leave the face looking flawless. This is made from synthetic hair, which is great for any cream foundations. It costs only £6.00. I will definitely be investing in more of these brushes for work!

FLAT CONTOUR BRUSH

Made from goat hair. This is great for contouring the cheeks, cheek bones, forehead, jaw line and nose. Or you could use it for bronzer, blusher or powdering the face or T-Zone area. Personally I would only use powder form with this brush as it may ruin the hairs when using cream blush or bronzer. This cost £5.25 only.

TAPERED BLENDING BRUSH

Another favourite of mine and a very good dupe for the 224 blending brush from M.A.C. This only cost £4.50 and it's great! Brilliant for blending in the crease of your eyelids, contouring the nose and I even use it for covering spots and blemishes! This one is made from goat hair and again I would use this with only powder eyeshadows.

PENCIL BRUSH

This is a great brush for getting really precise on the lower lash line, with eyeshadow. Also, good for making a "new" crease effect in your eyelid. But also, fantastic for putting a highlighter in the tear duct area to open up your eyes. This cost £3.25 and is made from goat hair

BLENDING EYESHADOW BRUSH

You can use this pretty much the same as the tapered blending brush, as mentioned above. But can also be used for all over colour on the eyelid. Another great dupe for the 217 from M.A.C. Made from goat hair and only cost £4.50

FLAT EYESHADOW BRUSH

This flat brush is ideal for packing on colour all over the eyelid, or you can even use it for highlighter under the brow bone.  It's made from goat hair which is great for powder eyeshadows. But for cream shadows, it may ruin the brush. Synthetic is always best for cream shadows. I haven't tried this with cream, so I maybe completely wrong about this! However, I'm not ruining one of my beautiful brushes! Separately this cost  £4.00

ANGLED LINER BRUSH

Great for eyeliner and filling in brows. Separately, this brush alone would only cost you £3.25. It's synthetic, which means great with a powder or liquid make-up. The brush is great for really precise lines and also fab for getting really close to the lash line.

Lauren you have done me proud with this brush line! They are not expensive, the product is really good quality and to everyone, you WILL get great results from them.
Lauren, maybe you could expand the line and do a few more synthetic haired brushes and maybe a good brush cleaner. Even a little contraption to hold the brushes upside down when they dry, when cleaned?!!!

I have been a make-up artist for a few years and these brushes will be coming with me on jobs!

Lots of Love you beautiful lot!
